New report discusses HIV/AIDS in NYC Women

On Tuesday, Rona Taylor wrote an article for The Huffington Post about the status of NYC women living with HIV/AIDS. Did you know that 10% of all women living with the virus in the United States reside in New York City? She goes on to breakdown that number into some key stats:

*90 percent of these women are black and Hispanic
*68 percent of these women are over the age of 40
*41 percent of those women were infected through heterosexual activity

Her organization, the Women’s HIV Collaborative of New York released on Tuesday a new report, “Women Living with HIV and AIDS in NYC: A Mapping Project and Literature Review.” I haven’t had a chance to read the entire report yet, but the Executive Summary has completely captured my attention.

The full report can be accessed here, and you can learn more information about the WHCNY by visiting their website.

My weekend homework will be to read the report and discuss it with you all next week! Hope you’re having a great Thursday! Get pumped because the weekend is ALMOST here!!!
