Event Spotlight – Bar AIDS:

Mark your calendars Chicago! Bar AIDS is upon us on Thursday, August 26th. This year not only are pubs and bars throughout the city participating, but so are coffee shops and juice bars, to accommodate a broader clientele.

A portion of the proceeds at participating venues will go towards EdgeAlliance to help children, adults and families living with HIV/AIDS achieve a higher quality of life through housing, care and support services.

Next Saturday, August 21st at the Harris Theatre, 205 East Randolph Drive, Millenium Park join Chicago’s most renowned, talented and exciting dance companies for what will be an awesome evening of dance rallying around one cause, on one stage! one spectacular, celebratory evening of dance – on one stage! Dance for Life is the only such event of its kind in Chicago, the largest in the Midwest, where such talented individuals come together on one stage, for one night, to help individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Participating companies include: Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theatre, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet, River North Chicago Dance Company, Thodos Dance Chicago.

Proceeds benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the Dance for Life Fund.

Today, August 13th is the LAST day to register for the Implementing Sexual Health Education Programs in Chicago Public Schools: workshop that will take place Tuesday, August 17th at 333 South State, 5th Floor, Room D, from 9:00am – 12:00pm. All community based organizations who provide sexual health-related programs for youth are encouraged to join the Chicago Public Schools for this training workshop. The event will feature presentations from CPS, the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health, and other groups who are currently implementing sexual health education programs in Chicago Public Schools.

This Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 10:00am to 3:00pm Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church’s Living in Victory Everyday (L.I.V.E) Ministry, 2800 W. Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia, PA will host “Carnival for a Cure.” A FREE event, Carnival for a Cure will be an afternoon of rides, games, prizes food and much more!
