Awareness is Always in Style!

Red Pump ATL Ambassador Skyy Banks Nominated for a RICE Award!

Skyy Banks (author, activist and social entrepreneur) has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls since becoming Red Pump’s Atlanta’s Ambassador. She visits local salons and barber shops, hosts testing drives at local colleges and universities and commemorates National recognition days throughout the year.

Skyy constantly seeks out nontraditional approaches to having conversations about the HIV/AIDS epidemic, working to decrease shame and stigma. Most recently for National HIV Testing Day, Skyy and a group of fellow Red Pump Rockers beat the streets of various Atlanta neighborhoods to distribute more than 1,000 condoms and pamphlets informing individuals of where to get tested.

She is now being recognized for this great work of raising awareness and empowering others in the metro Atlanta area by being nominated in the category of Health for the Rising in Community Excellence Award (R.I.C.E). The R.I.C.E Award is given to individuals who exemplify professional excellence while edifying the community.

Rice Awards

RICE Award nominees are innovative and charitable visionaries who recognize the importance of their presence and contribution to the community. Nominees were selected by a panel of industry professionals, community leaders and everyday citizens. Each category is about a community leader who has used their position to develop or implement programs that have changed the face of our communities.

We are extremely proud of Skyy, who exemplifies why we began The Red Pump Project. She proudly stands with and for those who are infected with HIV, in her cutest red shoes and with her open heart.

Let’s help her bring this one home for us, for those who are infected/affected by HIV, and for the countless women who are voiceless. Please visit TheRiceAwards.com and cast your vote from now through August 19th (it’s really easy. No need to sign up for anything). There is one vote per IP address (computer) or device. This means vote from your desktop, laptop, phone, and iPad.

Lastly we ask that you take a minute and share with your networks. Thanks for your continued support and Rocking the Red Pump with us!
